One of the most exciting areas for our recent involvement has been in fostering and implementing food technology innovation. We undertook a study to assess new and emerging technologies, such as HPP, UV light treatment, pulsed energy to name a few. We have worked with food companies on the incorporation of robotics, vision and control systems. In the course of these developments, we’ve related with other consultants, academic institutions, industry and government on creating new ways to introduce innovations into the food manufacturing sector, the largest manufacturing sector in Canada. This has been a challenge, as the great majority of food companies are small to mid-sized and lack critical mass to effect change on their own. Thus, the need for partnerships.
